Shonali Nagrani Early Life

Nagari was raised in Delhi by a Sindhi family. She attended Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi, and Good Shepherd English School in Bengdubi, Bagdogra.[Reference required] In 2003, she received her diploma from Lady Shri Ram College in New Delhi. Nagrani’s father was a retired Indian Naval officer, therefore her family has a military history as well. She wed Shiraz Bhattacharya, her lover, in Kerala in 2013.

Modelling

She was chosen to represent India in Miss International 2003 after winning the title of Femina Miss India International 2003. As a result, she competed in Miss International 2003, which was held in Tokyo, Japan, and placed first runner-up.[Reference required] Later on in 2003, she had the opportunity to meet the Prince of Wales during one of his official tours of India at a reception. Shonali Nagrani has been a working model ever since, participating in events for multiple modelling agencies. The Times of India voted her as one of the top “50 Most Desirable Women” in 2011 and 2012.

On TV

As a television host, Nagrani has been successful, appearing on both Indian and British networks. She was a Zoom TV host for Popcorn in her early career. She also made an appearance on Indian Idol’s Christmas special as a guest TV presenter. She debuted in the GECs in 2007 when she participated in the STAR One Great Indian Laughter Challenge. In 2007, she hosted the Star Plus IIFA Awards in Dubai, and then the Sony TV GIIMA in Malaysia.

Shonali Nagrani also went on to serve as the host of Mr. and Ms. TV on Sony and as the presenter of Salaam-e-Ishq, a reality show on Star One that focused on couples. Her other gigs include Dumdar Hits and Filmy Cocktail presenting. In 2009, she participated in Khatron Ke Khiladi as a competitor for Colours. 2011 saw Nagrani compete as a celebrity in the fifth season of Big Brother, Bigg Boss, the Indian version of the reality TV series.

Cricket

Beginning with the Champions Trophy that year, Cricket Nagari has been a frequent host of cricket shows since 2006. After that, she served as the Indian viewers’ presenter for the 2007 Cricket World Cup. She was the host of the Extraaa Innings T20 broadcast in 2008, which showcased and highlighted cricket action.

She started hosting a cricket-focused programme called Stumped in 2009, co-hosting with Wasim Akram, which once again featured highlights from the 2009 ICC World Twenty20. In same year, she worked for larger brands at ESPN and Star Cricket.

Along with co-presenters Cyrus Broacha and Wasim Akram, she co-hosted another T20 World Cup analysis show in 2010 that broadcast on ESPN-Star Sports. She was signed by ITV in 2011 to co-host their coverage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Matt Smith, following her successful work for ESPN and other networks. In addition to hosting, she serves as an analyst and presenter alongside studio guests. She then ventured into the UK television industry and presented the Indian Premier League for four seasons in a row.

Film

Nagari has also made appearances in Hindi-language films, mainly in supporting parts. Shonali Nagrani was originally scheduled to star alongside Emraan Hashmi in the 2005 film Zeher, but she was forced to withdraw due to pre-production delays. Since then, she hasn’t been in any significant motion pictures. Nonetheless, she made two brief appearances in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Dil Bole Hadippa!.
