On August 28, 1977, Shinde was born into a Maharashtrian family. Her mother Geeta Satyadeo Shinde is a stay-at-home mom, and her father Dr. Satyadeo Shinde served as a High Court judge.

In 1999, Shinde made her on-screen debut. Her part in the serial Bhabhi brought her to prominence. Shilpa Shinde then portrayed Chitra in Sanjeevani and appeared in the serial Kabhi Aaye Na Judaai. She portrayed the title character in Amrapali in 2002. Shilpa Shinde went on to play a different part in the Miss India series later on. In the January 2004 episode of Meher – Kahani Haq Aur Haqeeqat Ki on DD National, Shinde portrayed Meher, the parallel lead.
Shilpa portrayed Juhi in Rabba Ishq Na Hove on Zed TV from 2005 until 2006. After that, she starred as Veera in Betiyaan Apni Yaa Paraaya Dhan, as Gayatri in Waaris, and as Hari Mirchi Lal Mirchi . Shinde portrayed the title character in Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai! on &TV in 2015. With her role as Angoori Bhabhi in Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai!, Shinde rose to fame. However, she resigned from the film in March 2016 due to a number of problems with the production team and allegations that they were mentally abusing her. Shubhangi Atre took Shinde’s position.Atre stated that this fact was just a coincidence in Shide took part in the Bigg Boss 11 reality show in 2017.
