Indian actress Raima Sen, whose real name is Raima Dev Varma, is well-known for her roles in Bengali and Hindi films.
Raima Sen Childhood
Raima Sen, granddaughter of actress Suchitra Sen, known as the Mahanayika of Bengali cinema, was born in Bombay (now Mumbai) to Moon Moon Sen and Bharat Dev Varma. Riya Sen, her sister, works in Bollywood as well. The Tripuran royal dynasty includes their father, Bharat Dev Varma. Her paternal grandmother, Ila Devi, was a princess of Cooch Behar. Gayatri Devi, her younger sister, was a Jaipur Maharani Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III of Baroda had only one daughter, Indira, who was her paternal great-grandmother.

Adinath Sen, Raima’s maternal great-grandfather, was a well-known businessman in Kolkata. His son Dinanath Sen, a relative of former Union Law Minister Ashoke Kumar Sen, served as the Maharaja of Tripura’s Diwan or Minister. Despite using their mother’s maiden name on official documents, the sisters are identified on film as Dev Varma.
In her private life, Sen is reported to have more in common with her grandma than with her mother or sister. Raima Sen claims in an interview that although she loves Mumbai’s nightclubs, gyms, and quicker paced lifestyle, she misses her family in Kolkata, her dog Cuddles, and the city’s street food, especially Jhal Muri and Aloo chaat. Raima Sen stated in 2006 that she had a brief, short-lived romance (2006–2007) with politician Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo from Odisha.
Raima Sen Career
Sen made her feature film debut in the critically acclaimed[by whom?] picture Godmother, however her little part might have been overshadowed in favour of Shabana Azmi’s portrayal of the lead. After that, she played the daughter of Raveena Tandon in the movie Daman, where her brief role was well-received.
Raima Sen made her big break as the lead in Rituparno Ghosh’s film Chokher Bali. Following a few more mediocre films, she starred in Parineeta in 2005 as the heroine’s playmate, alongside Vidya Balan, who was making her feature film debut. Since then, she has had two additional hits: the Bengali film Antar Mahal (in which she played a relatively small role) and the action movie Dus.

Sen starred as the lead in the critically praised Hrid Majharey in 2014, which was shown as a tribute to the Bard on his 450th birthday and the first Bengali film based on his works. In this dark love story directed by newbie filmmaker Ranjan Ghosh, she co-stars with Abir Chatterjee and Indrasish Roy. On its list of global cinematic adaptations of Shakespeare plays, Film London has bestowed upon the movie an unusual recommendation. The UGC Literature Archive now contains both the movie and the screenplay. It is also well-known for being the only Bengali movie to be shot in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, following Sabuj Dweeper Raja (1979).
Raima Sen starred in K.D. Satyam’s film Bollywood Diaries (2016), which he wrote and directed. Salim Diwan and Ashish Vidyarthi are also featured in the movie.
