Mahima Chaudhry, an Indian actress and model who featured in Hindi cinema, was born Ritu Chaudhry on September 13, 1973. Before breaking into the movie industry in the 1990s, Chaudhry completed a few modelling jobs and made several TV commercial appearances.

Her first feature film role was in the patriotic romantic drama Pardes (1997), for which she was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Actress and took home the Best Female Debut prize.

In addition to receiving critical acclaim for her roles in Dil Kya Kare (1999), Lajja (2001), and Dobara (2004), she launched her career with a number of successful films, including Daag (1999), Dhadkan (2000), Kurukshetra (2000), and Baghban (2003). For Dil Kya Kare and Dhadkan, she was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.

In Darjeeling, India, Mahima was born Ritu Chaudhry to a Jat father and a mother of Nepalese descent. Mahima Chaudhry proceeded to Loreto Convent in Darjeeling after attending Dow Hill in Kurseong through class 10. Mahima Chaudhry speaks Hindi and Nepalese with ease, having grown up in the Darjeeling Hills region. Pusher, a 2010 film directed by Assad Raja and produced by Knightsbridge Media Production, featured Chaudhry. In the suspense thriller Mumbhaii – The Gangster, she also collaborated with Om Puri and Sanjay Kapoor.

Mahima Chaudhry Political Actions

Chaudhry supported a few candidates from the Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the West Bengal elections of 2021. In 2023, she met with state minister Vishvas Sarang and expressed her admiration for the BJP government, sparking rumours that she may join the party before the Madhya Pradesh elections.

Mahima Chaudhry Personal Life

Chaudhry was injured in a car accident in 1999 while filming Dil Kya Kare; her vehicle collided with a truck near Bangalore, resulting in the need to remove several pieces of glass from her face. In 2006, she wed Bobby Mukherji, an architect. 2013 saw the couple’s separation.[Reference required]

In 2022, Chaudhry received a breast cancer diagnosis and underwent a successful treatment. Mahima Chaudhry stated that watching comedic shows like Kapil Sharma Show assisted her in getting better from her condition.
