In Dubai, Chheda made her stage debut in the drama Dr. Mukta. In 2005, she made her screen debut as Sanjana in the Gujarati film Toh Lagi Sharat. Janvi Chheda also did television work in Gujarat, hosting Kem Cho and playing Nidhi in Saubhagyavati.
In Chhoona Hai Aasmaan, Chheda debuted on Hindi television in 2007 and 2008. She played Flight Lieutenant Sameera Singh opposite Mohammed Iqbal Khan. The plot of the program was praised.

Janvi Chheda costarred with Vineet Raina in Dhoop Mein Thandi Chaav…Maa (2009) as the antagonist Sandhya. 2009 saw her in Maayka as Simran. Janvi Chheda costarred with Karan Hukku and Kunal Verma as the protagonist character Tashi Arjun Singh in Tera Mujhse Hai Pehle Ka Naata Koi from 2010 to 2011.

Chheda is well-known for her role as Inspector Shreya on CID, the longest-running police procedural on television in India. Janvi Chheda gained more notoriety as a result. The role was represented by her from 2012 to 2016. In the crossover episodes with Adaalat for CID Viruddh Adaalat in 2012 and CID V/s Adaalat – Karmyudh in 2014, she also made appearances as Shreya. 2011 saw Chheda tie the knot with her longtime partner Nishant Gopalia. In 2017, she gave birth to a girl named Nirvi. Janvi Chheda Gopalia was Chheda’s new name after marriage.
