Ashwini Kalsekar starred in the popular science fiction comedy serial Mr. Gayab on Zee TV in 1999, marking her first major appearance on television. She became well-known as the first Indian Catwoman after her evil appearance in the children’s superhero series Shaktimaan as Shalaka Catwoman.

Ashwini Kalsekar also acted in the 2004 Sony TV series Achanak 37 Samal Bad [citation needed].
