Eventually, he signed a two-film acting contract with Y-Films, a division of Yash Raj Films (YRF).

In the financially successful 2011 romantic comedy Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, Qureshi made his acting debut in the starring role. He received praise for his role in the movie and was nominated for a Filmfare Award in the Best Male Debut category. He wrapped off his two-film deal with the Y-Films the next year, starring in the critically and commercially successful romantic comedy Mere Dad Ki Maruti. Later, he appeared in a Karan Johar-directed part in the experimental anthology Bombay Talkies (2013) as a closed-sexual. The action film Race 3 (2018) was his highest-grossing release to date.

Apart from his film career, Qureshi is involved in philanthropic work, holds multiple sponsorship deals, and plays cricket as a member of the Mumbai Heroes in the Celebrity Cricket League, an amateur men’s cricket league in India. India’s Delhi is where Saqib Saleem was born. Saleem Qureshi, his father, is a restaurateur who owns and operates ten Saleem’s restaurants in Delhi. Ameena Qureshi, his mother, is a homemaker. Saqib Saleem has two brothers, Naeem and Haseen Qureshi, and one sister, Huma Qureshi. Saqib had a brief stint helping out at the restaurants while in college, but he did not enjoy it. Saqib had started modelling by then and had relocated to Mumbai against his father’s wishes for him to stay in Delhi and complete his Master of Business Administration degree.

Saqib began his cricket career as a player for Jammu & Kashmir and Delhi. Saqib, a lifelong cricket player, never considered a career in acting. Following his arrival in Bombay, Saleem began her career as a model, eventually taking on roles in TV commercials for companies including Pepsi, Tata Docomo, Bar One, KFC, Airtel, Sprite, and Lays (starring actor Ranbir Kapoor).

Saqib’s passion in acting blossomed during the ad shoot, and he began going to Bollywood movie auditions. Saqib Saleem was able to audition for Yash Raj Films thanks to the assistance of his close friend, fashion designer Varun Bahl. “It was exhausting,” he remembers. The next year, Saleem starred in the Ashima Chibber-directed comedy Mere Dad Ki Maruti from Y-Films, opposite Rhea Chakraborty. The story of the movie is on a Punjabi wedding, in which Saleem’s character, a boy, tries to impress a girl by stealing his father’s automobile, but his plans backfire. Bombay Talkies, an experimental anthology film of four short films, was released in 2013. Saleem appeared alongside Rani Mukerji and Randeep Hooda in Karan Johar’s “Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh” segment. He portrayed the young gay man Avinash, who is smitten with the spouse of a coworker. Saleem took a lead after this achievement.

Critics gave the official version of the 2014 Hollywood blockbuster Oculus, directed by Prawaal Raman, varying degrees of praise. Saleem portrayed a normal Delhi boy in the romantic comedy Dil Juunglee who wants to be an actor but instead falls in love with his best friend, Taapsee Pannu. Despite receiving negative reviews and failing at the Indian box office, critics lauded Saleem and Pannu’s on-screen chemistry. Only “Taapsee Pannu’s charm and Saqib Saleem’s earthiness that keep the movie from getting unbearable,” according to Sweta Kausal of Hindustan Times.38 The Times of India’s Renuka Vyavahare said, “There’s absolutely nothing wild or memorable, aside from the earnest performances of the lead actors and the supporting cast.”

With the ZEE5 Original web series Rangbaaz, which was based on a true story, he made his OTT debut in 2018 playing the part of a legendary gangster. He portrayed a RAW agent in Voot’s spy thriller web series Crackdown in 2020.

Saqib Saleem Off-Screen Employment

Saleem performs in movies and models. He also plays in the Celebrity Cricket competition (CCL), a non-professional men’s cricket competition in India where celebrities from eight regional Indian film industries make up the “Mumbai Heroes” team. The league was started in 2011, and the Indian media has covered it extensively ever then.
