Beginnings of career (2009–15)
Mehra started modelling in 2009 and has since appeared in over 200 print and television advertisements. In 2012, he made his television debut in an episode of the crime drama Gumrah: End of Innocence on Channel V India.

Rohan Mehra made his television debut in 2013 as Varun Ashwin Khanna in the hit series Bade Achhe Lagte Hain on Sony Entertainment Television. In addition, Mehra made his Bollywood debut as Kartik in the sensual thriller Sixteen.

Bigg Boss and Breakthrough (2015–17)
In the longest-running soap opera on Star Plus, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Mehra achieved his first big break in 2015 as Naksh Singhania. For this role, he was awarded the Gold Award for Best Debut Actor (Male). In September 2016, he left the show to take part in Bigg Boss. Beyond Sasural Simar Ka (2017–present)
In the long-running Colours TV daily soap opera Sasural Simar Ka, Mehra played Sameer Kapoor alongside Krissann Barretto and Vaishali Takkar from June 2017 to March 2018. His character was negative at first, but it gradually became positive.

Rohan Mehra signed on for his fourth episodic role as Rohan in &TV’s Laal Ishq in 2018. In the same year, he participated in the third season of the Box Cricket League with Lucknow Nawabs and won.
After a year, Mehra and Kanchi Singh competed in Kitchen Champion. Rohan Mehra made his web series debut in 2020 as Ibrahim Noorani in the ALT Balaji adolescent drama Class of 2020. His second web series, Crashh, which costarred Zain Imam, Aditi Sharma, Kunj Anand, and Anushka Sen, debuted online in February 2021 on ALTBalaji and ZEE5.
