An Indian stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and YouTuber is Kanan Singh Gill. The Punch Line Bangalore Competition was won by him. He is well-known for his work on the YouTube series Pretentious Movie Reviews, in which he and fellow stand-up comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath critique campy Bollywood films. In addition to co-hosting the YouTube FanFest India, he was one of the key figures behind the YouTube Comedy Hunt.

Kanan Gill made his own one-hour comedy special, Keep It Real, available on Amazon Prime Video in 2017. Kanan Gill debuted with Sonakshi Sinha in the film Noor, which was his first feature film. Kanan Gill Childhood
Born into a Sikh family in Bareilly, Kanan’s formative years were spent in Dehradun and Delhi. In addition to being an Indian Army officer, his father Charanjit Singh Gill served as the principal of Bangalore’s Rashtriya Military School. He was taken to Bengaluru at a young age.
He attended the Frank Anthony Public School in Bengaluru and the Ahlcon Public School in New Delhi for his education. He studied computer science for his B.E. at MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology. He was in a band, and when he started writing “funny songs,” he eventually rose to the position as lead singer.
Kanan Gill Career
For three years, Kanan was employed at Exeter Group Inc. as a software developer. He competed in and won the Punchline Bangalore competition in the interim. He then won again at the Comedy Store in Mumbai. After that, he left his job to pursue a comedic career.

Pretentious Movie Reviews, a popular YouTube series, helped him become well-known. He and Biswa Kalyan Rath evaluated critically criticised prominent Hindi films. Additionally, Kanan was employed by Comedy Central’s The Living Room, an improvisational sketch comedy programme. Gill debuted as an actor in 2017 alongside Sonakshi Sinha in Sunhil Sippy’s Noor. Gill debuted his Keep It Real special on Amazon Prime Video the same year. His ‘Yours Sincerely’ special was made available on Netflix in 2020.
Additionally, Kanan occasionally appears in productions made by his friends and colleagues, most notably Better Life Foundation, a web series by Them Boxer Shorts, and numerous other sketches, videos, and podcasts that his fellow comedians have either written or hosted.
Alongside Ida Ursin-Holm, he also starred in the romantic comedy Christmas as usual in Norway in 2023. Acts of God, Gill’s first book, was published by HarperCollins on January 18, 2024. It’s a science fiction comedy tale based on a short story he penned between 2016 and 2017. The writings of Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, and Douglas Adams served as inspiration.
