Jackie Shroff Childhood And Early Career

On February 1, 1957, Jaikishan Kakubhai Shroff (also known as Saraf) was born in Bombay, Bombay State, India. Gujarati by birth, Kakubhai Haribhai Shroff was his father. According to Shroff, his mother was a Turkmen who escaped the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic (modern-day Kazakhstan) during a coup. Along with her seven daughters, his maternal grandmother fled to Ladakh, moved to Delhi, and eventually made her way to Mumbai.

The father of Shroff was descended from a family of tradesmen and merchants. But they lost everything in the stock market, forcing his father to move out of the family when he was just 17 years old. When they were both teenagers, his father and his mother got married.

Shroff completed his eleventh class at junior college before leaving. He grew up in Mumbai’s Teen Batti neighborhood.
