Annu Kapoor Childhood

On February 20, 1956, Annu Kapoor was born in Itwara, Bhopal, Bhopal State, to Ghoti Brahmin mother Kamal and Punjabi father Madanlal, who was originally from Peshawar. His mother was an Urdu teacher and a trained classical vocalist, while his father was the owner of a travelling Parsi theatre group that played in cities and towns. His great-grandfather Lala Ganga Ram Kapoor was a revolutionary who was put to death during the Indian independence movement, and his grandpa Kripa Ram Kapoor served as a doctor in the British Army.

After finishing secondary education, he was forced to drop out of school due to financial difficulties. His mother was a teacher and made ₹ 40 a month. He enlisted in his theatre company at his father’s request. After a year there, he enrolled at National School of Drama in 1976 at the urging of his brother Ranjit Kapoor, who was already enrolled there.

In 1981, following his graduation from the National School of Drama and a brief engagement with its repertory company, he performed in the play Ek Ruka Hua Faisla in Bombay, which is now Mumbai, as a 70-year-old man. After watching Kapoor perform, director Shyam Benegal wrote him a letter expressing his gratitude and signed him for his 1983 movie Mandi.

Through his programmes, Kapoor has emphasised the positive qualities of India. Seema Kapoor, Kapoor’s sister, was wed to actor Om Puri. His sister Seema is an actor and producer, and his older brother Ranjit is a director and screenwriter. Nikhil, Kapoor’s younger brother, writes lyrics and songs.

From two marriages, Kapoor has three sons, Kavan, Maahir, and Evaan, and one daughter, Aradhita. Anupama, his spouse, was born in the United States. In 2008, Annu wedded Anupama (Pami), his first wife. While starring in Tezaab, he changed his name from Anil Kapoor to Annu Kapoor in order to avoid misunderstanding with the movie’s hero.

Annu Kapoor debuted on screen in the 1979 film Kaala Patthar, starring Amitabh Bachchan, in an uncredited role. Following that, he starred in other motion pictures, including Khandar (1984), Mandi (1983), Aadharshila (1982), and Betaab (1983). His first big break came from the 1984 film Utsav, in which he played the part of a masseur. It led to his first nomination for Best Performance in a Comedic Role at the Filmfare Awards.[14] He went on to star in numerous critically and commercially successful films, including Aitraaz (2004), Om Jai Jagadish (2002), Mr. India (1987), Tezaab (1988), Ram Lakhan (1990), Ghayal (1990), Hum (1991), Darr (1993), Sardar (1993), and 7 Khoon Maaf (2011).

Starting his career as a stage actor in 1979, Kapoor gained recognition in the 1984 film Ek Ruka Hua Faisla, which was written and directed by his elder brother Ranjeet and starred Basu Chatterjee. with 1983, Annu made his feature film debut with Mandi, which was helmed by Shyam Benegal. Over the course of his more than 30-year career, he has appeared in game shows, television serials, and Bollywood films. The Zed TV singing programme Close-Up Antakshari is the reason Kapoor is most known. In Vicky Donor (2012), he played an obsessive-compulsive sperm bank doctor, to critical and popular acclaim. Producer Kapoor created the musical talent hunt show Gaan Gaao Taaka Naao on Rupashi Bangla TV in Kolkata and the children’s talent contest Aao Jhoomein Gaayen for SAB TV. In Mathura, he also created the musical Ek Sunhari Shyam.
