Yadav, who was raised in Chhapra, Bihar, started his singing career in the late 2000s and has been acting professionally ever since Saajan Chale Sasural in 2011. In 2014, he made his Bollywood singing debut in the movie Koyelaanchal with the song “AK-47”. In addition to winning Best Actor (Male) and Best Playback Singer (Male) at the Sabrang Film Awards in 2018 for his role in Mehandi Laga Ke Rakhna, he was named Best Popular Actor at the 2016 Bhojpuri Film Awards . He took home four more prizes in 2019 for his performance in the movie Sangharsh. He took part in the 2019 season of Bigg Boss 13.

“Ladki Patana,” his first Hindi-language single and third Hindi film song, was released by Sony Music India in 2020. “Tere Mere Darmiyaan” followed in 2021. He and Badshah worked together shortly after to translate the Bhojpuri song “Pani Pani” into English. He debuted as a screenwriter in 2022 with the movie Aashiqui. His two songs were included by YouTube in their compilation of the best Indian songs of 2022.

Khesari Lal Yadav Family And Life

On March 15, 1986, Khesari Lal Yadav was born into a low-income family in Dhanadih village, in the Saran district of Bihar, as Shatrughan Kumar Yadav. He was given the stage name “Khesari” because of his childhood tendency of talking excessively, which was likened to the crop Khesari, which grows well without water or fertilizer.

Khesari was not born in his own home because his parents had to rent a pucca house after their mud house collapsed in the storm. To make ends meet, his father Mangaru Lal Yadav worked as a security guard at night and as a street vendor selling chana in the mornings. Khesari has three brothers of his own out of the seven siblings he has. The other four are the sons of his uncle, whose mother passed away while they were little. To raise them, Khesari’s mother intervened.

His mother and uncle used to reside in Chhapra, while his father worked as an earner in Delhi. Later, Khesari moved in with his brothers and uncle after his mother departed for Delhi to assist her husband with household chores. In his early years, Khesari would pasture cats and sell their milk. He wed Chanda Devi in 2006. They have a daughter together. Yadav reportedly considers his wife to be his lucky charm and is incredibly dedicated to her. They have a daughter and a boy.

Yadav began his career as a theater performer in Bhojpuri theaters between 1998 and 1999. There, he performed in plays including the Ramayana and Mahabharata and also picked up the Bhojpuri folk dance Launda Naach. Subsequently, he and his spouse relocated to Okhla, Delhi, where he began selling Litti Chokha. After selling Litti-chokha, he used the money he saved to release his first album, which cost ₹12,000 and was a huge failure. Following that, he began working as a servant at the home of renowned Bhojpuri singer Guddu Rangeela. Later, after saving some money, he once more spent ₹25,000 to release his second album, which had a better reception from listeners and brought him some notoriety.

Following that, he began receiving investments in his projects from different record labels, but he was still responsible for his own marketing. In numerous interviews, he disclosed that he personally distributed his record cassettes in various districts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. He would travel by rail to any location where singing and dancing events were scheduled, whether they were daytime or evening events. He used to ask the sound guy there to play his music for him in exchange for some cash. He said that although some would concur, others would mistreat them and demand that they leave. He also told that sometimes he did not even have money to eat, so he used to sleep without eating.

Following his vocal career’s success, he relocated to Mumbai to pursue film jobs. Yadav have disclosed that, the manager of Manoj Tiwari had held him at Tiwari’s house surreptitiously. He learnt fight in this period and later Aalok Kumar starred him in Sajan Chale Sasural, which became a smash and established him as an actor.

Khesari Lal Yadav Acting profession

Initial years, 2012–2016

In 2012, he made his acting debut in Bhojpuri film Sajan Chale Sasural, in which he played the lead part as Sajan, a village guy who goes to town to marry the girl with which his marriage had fixed in his youth. His second film was Jaan Tere Naam, in which he played the character of a boy who wants to be an actor. Akshaya Kumar, in one of his writings, writes that “the film sets in motion a dialogue about cultural practices that defy the feudal family and awaken its ‘deviant’ anxieties”. Between 2012 and 2016 he did 42 Bhojpuri movies including Nagin (2012), Ae Balma Biharwala (2013), Chhapra Express (2013), Pratigya 2 (2014) and Khiladi (2016), which received four honors at Sabrang Film honors 2017.

Establishment and Hindi film debut (2016–present)

In 2016, he made his Hindi film debut in Global Baba, in which he sung a song titled “Holi Me Ude” and performed in it too with Sandeepa Dhar and Pankaj Tripathi. He was honored with the Sabrang Film Awards 2018 for his performance in Mehandi Laga Ke Rakhna (2017), an adaptation of the Telugu film Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule, for which he received best playback singer and best actor. Following roles in movies such as Mai Sehra Bandh Ke Aaunga (2017), Muqaddar (2017), Damru (2018), and Dulhan Ganga Paar Ke (2018), he made an appearance in Sangharsh (2018), a socially conscious movie that backed the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao mantra.

At various award ceremonies, the movie took home 19 prizes. Yadav appeared in Naagdev (2018), the first Bhojpuri movie to employ visual effects. Almost forty percent of the movie sequences had visual effects, making it the first Bhojpuri film to do so. Balam Ji Love You (2018), Dabang Sarkar (2018), and Coolie No. 1 (2019) are his other films from this period. In addition to being a patriotic film, Baaghi-Ek Yoddha addressed the Muzaffarpur shelter case. In 2019, he also worked on the sports film Bhag Khesari Bhag. He has made his television debut in 2019 as a participant on the reality series Bigg Boss.

The 2020 film Mehandi Laga Ke Rakhna 3 is a remake of Velaiilla Pattadhari, which was originally released in Tamil. Ninety percent of his first foreign-shot picture, Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaye (2021), was filmed in London. In 2021, he shot three additional films abroad: Saiyaan Arab Gaile Na was shot in Dubai, while Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and Pyar Kiya to Nibhana were shot in London.

Aashiqui, his first film of 2022, marked his screenwriting debut as well as his portrayal of an upper caste boy who defies society norms in order to win his love. His subsequent appearance was in the May release of Shadi Ho To Aisi. His next role was in the London-shot film Dulhaniya London Se Layenge, alongside British performers Grace Rhodes and Madhu Sharma. His next film, directed by Shankar from Telugu, titled Rowdy Inspector, was released in various regions of India in August 2022.

This was Meghasri’s first Bhojpuri film, in which she played the female lead opposite Yadav. He debuted in Haryanvi alongside Sapna Chaudhary on the album Matak Matak in August of 2022. In September 2022, Doli Saja Ke Rakhna, his upcoming Bhojpuri film, was released. The movie was screened in several theaters, including 25 multiplexes, in Nepal and India. Bol Radha Bol, his film, was released on October 24. Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, which came out in December of 2022, was his last motion picture.

Farishta, his first movie of 2023, came out on April 9. In this movie, Yadav portrayed a mentally challenged guy. The largest Bhojpuri hit of 2023, this movie played in theaters for weeks with full houses. Laadla 2 was then released in September 2023. He played a police officer in Sangharsh 2, the highest-budget movie he has ever done, which came out in October. The crowd responded favorably to it.

Khesari Lal Yadav Career In Music

Yadav sang in the Ramayan and Mahabharat in his early years. In 2008, his debut album was made available. Saiyaan Arab Gaile Na, Piyawa Rahele Saudi Re Bhauji, and Maal Bhetai Mela Me are a few of the early hits. His Bollywood debut came in 2014 when he sang “AK-47” from Koyelaanchal. 2021

His second Bollywood single, “In between I and You,” Tere Mere Darmiyaan, was made available in 2021. In the Bhojpuri rendition of the well-known Hindi song Pani Pani, which was originally sung by Aastha Gill and Badshah, Yadav worked with Bollywood rapper Badshah. Badshah did a Bhojpuri rap in the version that was released under Saregama. Within 60 minutes of its YouTube release, the song garnered over one million views, making it the first Bhojpuri song to achieve this feat. His next Bollywood song, Romantic Raja, which had lyrics written by Kunaal Vermaa and choreography by Mudassar Khan, featured him in a duet with singer and composer Shipra Goyal. Tedhi Hai Par Meri Hai was his other Hindi hit, and Ladkiyo Ka Rog Na Paalo and Naya Saal Naya Maal were his Bhojpuri singles.

2022

Yadav released his debut Bhojpuri single of 2022 with the song Do Ghoont. The song was a replica of the Bollywood film Jheel Ke Us Paar from 1973, specifically the song Do Ghut Mujhe bhi Pila De Sharabi. He then dropped another track, Aashiq (Lover), the music video for which was recorded in Germany. He released Dream Me Entry after releasing a few Holi songs. He released 23 Holi songs in addition to six songs from his movie Aashiqui. He also released a Chaita song called Le Le Aain Coca Cola, which means “bring Coca-Cola” and peaked at the top of the worldwide YouTube music chart. Nathuniya (The Nose Ring), another Bhojpuri hit, also reached the top 5 of the chart. Kamariya Coca Cola, his first Hindi song of the year, was released by T-Series in April 2022.

He performed on the Hindi song “Tsunami,” composed by Salim-Sulaiman and released in June 2022. He released “Unke Dil Me” (In Her Heart), another Hindi hit, in the same month. In August, he released two more singles: the Bhojpuri song “UP Bihar” and the Hindi song “Ya Khuda” (O lord). He also performed a Bhojpuri rendition of the well-known Bengali song “Bondhu Teen Din” (Buddy! Three days).

Then, on October 9, 2022, Khesari released two Hindi singles. The first, “Baarish” (Rain), featured two Armenian models, Par and Seda. Armenia is also where the video was filmed. In the second, he also made his compositional debut with “Mehfil”. He sang the melancholic Bhojpuri song “Dil Tutal Hoi”. His song “Tabla” was released in the first week of November.[54] Le Le Aain Coca-Cola and his song Nathuniya were included in the 2022 YouTube yearly list of Top Indian music.

2023

Within a day of its release, his song “Pagale Bana Di Ram Ji” from the movie Farishta garnered over 3.6 million views, indicating a positive reception from the public. His song “Nagin” was published in March and within the first day of its release, it received 5.5 million views. On April 22, he made available the IPL team Lucknow Super Giants’ anthem, “Khele Supergiants Lucknowwa”. The Delhi High Court imposed a September 2025 injunction on Yadav, prohibiting him from doing business with any company other than Global Music Junction.

Giving and serving others

Yadav is the founder of the “Khesari Foundation,” an NGO that conducts humanitarian work all throughout the nation. He provides for the education of the 62 orphans under his care. Every month, he pays a visit to an elderly home and aids the Bihar flood victims annually. In 2022, he gave money to the poor before Diwali.

Criticism and artistic expression

Yadav’s performances in Lavanda Naach have contributed to his fame and recognition. He was well-known for his Launda roles even before he made his feature film debut. Yadav’s manhood was often questioned and his performances were ridiculed since Launda Naach is frowned upon by the upper caste and is perceived as a threat to the performer’s integrity.

Akshaya Kumar views his rise to fame from Launda Naach as a protest against the higher caste’s general contempt for the performer. Kumar also cites an interview with a Buxar-based Brahmin classical music instructor who praised Manoj Tiwari and Pawan Singh, but when Yadav is brought up, “What is he, he’s just a launda,” he exclaimed. Yadav takes a very daring stance on this issue, however in a 2013 interview with Jogira, he stated:
