Born on November 10, 2001, Riyan Parag Das is an Indian cricket player who competes in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Rajasthan Royals and in domestic cricket for Assam. He participated in the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup victory with the Indian Under-19 side.

Riyan Parag Individual Life

Assam, Railways, and the East Zone cricket team have all been represented by Riyan’s father, Parag Das, a former first-class cricket player. His father Parag Das participated in Railways competitions in Guwahati and Kharagpur alongside MS Dhoni many years ago. In 2004, shortly before his debut in India, they even topped their department’s run-charts in the Inter-Railways competition held in Nagpur.

When Dhoni represented Bihar in the Ranji Trophy a few years back, they also faced off against one another. Dhoni was captaining the opposition and taking wickets on Parag’s IPL debut. At the Asian Championships and SAF Games, his mother Mithoo Barooah, a former national record holder in the 50m freestyle, represented India in swimming.

Riyan Parag Career

Riyan Parag, then 14 years old, would have made history as the youngest first-class debutant in India if the Assam selectors had not been at odds with the state’s then-coach, Sanath Kumar. On January 29, 2017, Riyan made his Twenty20 debut for Assam in the Inter State Twenty-20 Tournament for the 2016–17 season. He was included in the Indian team for the 2017 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup in October of that year. On November 17, 2017, he made his Assamese first-class debut in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy.

He was chosen for both of India’s Under-19 Test teams in England in 2017. After Prithvi Shaw, he was India’s second-highest run scorer at the conclusion of the two youth Tests played in England. India won 334 runs at Chesterfield thanks to his two fifties in the opening game, which included a 33-ball half-century, the second-fastest in recorded junior Test history after Virat Kohli. He scored fifty runs in the second Test, helping India win the series 2-0. He also put together a 131-run partnership with Shubman Gill for the fourth wicket.
