Afghan cricketer Noor Ahmad Lakanwal was born on January 3, 2005, and he made his debut for the national team in an international tournament in June 2022.

On April 29, 2019, he participated in the 2019 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament for Kabul Region, making his first-class debut. On October 8, 2019, he played his first Twenty20 match for Mis Ainak Knights in the Shpageeza Cricket League.

Noor Ahmad was included in Afghanistan’s squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in December 2019. Noor Ahmad was included on the St Lucia Zouks roster for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League in July of that year. On October 14, 2020, he participated in the 2020 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament for Mis Ainak Region, making his List A debut.
He signed a contract with the Melbourne Renegades in December 2020 to compete in the 2020–21 Australian Big Bash League at the age of 15. Noor was added to the Chennai Super Kings’ Indian Premier League 2021 roster in March 2021 as a net bowler. Noor participated in the 2021 Pakistan Super League as a player for the Karachi Kings in June of 2021.
Noor was included in the Afghanistan One Day International (ODI) team roster for their series against Pakistan in July 2021. Noor Ahmad was included in Afghanistan’s squad for the West Indies 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in December 2021. Following the players’ draft in the Supplementary category for the 2022 Pakistan Super League, he was signed by the Quetta Gladiators later that month.
Noor Ahmad made his team debut on February 12, 2022, at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore against Islamabad United.

Ahmad was selected as a reserve for Afghanistan’s One Day International (ODI) squad for the same tour as well as in the Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for their series against Zimbabwe in May 2022 . In a match against Zimbabwe on June 14, 2022, he made his T20I debut.
On November 30, 2022, Ahmad played his first ODI match against Sri Lanka. On October 23, 2023, he also played in his first ODI World Cup match in Chennai against Pakistan. At the age of 18, he made his World Cup debut, becoming the youngest player to do so.
