Playback singer Neha Kakkar Singh originally named Neha Kakkar, was born on June 6, 1988. She is the younger sister of Tony and Sonu Kakkar, two playback singers. At a very young age, she started doing performances at religious occasions.

She took part in the second season of Indian Idol, a singing reality show, in 2005. She debuted in Bollywood as a chorus vocalist in the movie Meerabai Not Out. The dance single “Second Hand Jawaani” from Cocktail (2012) catapulted her to fame, and she went on to feature in more hit party songs like “London Thumakda” from the 2014 Queen soundtrack and “Sunny Sunny” from Yaariyan.

Aside from playback singing, Kakkar has been a judge on TV reality series like “Indian Idol” and starred in multiple music videos.

With 13.9 billion views, Kakkar was ranked as one of the most popular female musicians on YouTube in 2019. She won a YouTube Diamond Award in January 2021, making history as the first Indian artist to do so. On Spotify, she is the most followed female musician from India and the 22nd most followed artist worldwide.

In 2017 and 2019, she was listed in the India Forbes Celebrity 100. She was listed on Forbes’ list of Asia’s 100 Digital Stars in December 2020.

On June 6, 1988, Kakkar was born in Rishikesh, Uttar Pradesh (now Uttarakhand). Kakkar relocated to Delhi with her family in the early 1990s in an attempt to pursue a career in singing. At four years old, Kakkar began giving performances at neighborhood get-togethers and religious ceremonies. She and her brother Tony Kakkar relocated to Mumbai in 2004. When Kakkar applied to the second season of Indian Idol in 2006, she was eighteen years old, and she was eliminated early in the competition.

2005–2012: Cocktail marked the start of a successful career.

She took part in the second season of the singing competition Indian Idol in 2005, but she was eliminated before the competition could finish. With songs by Meet Bros. Anjjan, she released her debut album, Neha The Rockstar, in 2008. She recorded tracks for her brother Tony Kakkar’s Romeo Juliet CD during this time. She and Sukhwinder Singh sung “Hai Rama” from Meerabai Not Out (2008). The next year, she sang the chorus vocals for an A.R. Rahman composition that became the title song for the film Blue (2009). Next, she provided the voice of Na Aana Is Des Laado (2009), the theme music of a Hindi soap drama.

In the 2010 film Isi Life Mein…! (2010) directed by Vidhi Kasliwal, Kakkar made her on-screen debut as a college student. She made her debut in the Telugu and Kannada music industries that same year, covering four songs for Sandeep Chowta. She provided the voice for Master Saleem’s song “Nodu Baare” and the title track of the Kannada film Thamassu. Her lone nomination for the Filmfare Awards South in the category of Best Female Playback Singer came from the former.

She costarred with Kapil Sharma and Ali Asgar in Comedy Circus Ke Taansen’s second season. The next year, Kakkar experienced a significant breakthrough thanks to her partnership with Pritam on the dance hit “Second Hand Jawaani” from Cocktail. The song went on to gain popularity among music fans despite critics’ mixed to unfavorable reviews. Her 2012 YouTube release of “SRK Anthem” was an homage to actor Shah Rukh Khan.

Beginning in 2017, Kakkar—mostly in partnership with Tanishk Bagchi—became more closely linked to the movement of remixing older songs into more contemporary ones, which led to a number of criticisms aimed at the singer.

Neha Kakkar Individual Life

Since 2014, Kakkar and actor Himansh Kohli have been romantically involved. They made their official love announcement on national television in September 2018 and hinted that they might soon be married. But three months later, Kakkar announced on Instagram that the couple had broken up.

When Kakkar first met Punjabi musician Rohanpreet Singh in Chandigarh, they fell in love right away. They were married in a Gurdwara in New Delhi on October 24, 2020.
